5 Budget Tips For A Successful Wedding Day
Your wedding day is going to be one of the most memorable occasions of your life. However, a truly memorable wedding day is going to cost. And, with the high costs associated with modern weddings, the burden of paying for a modern wedding rarely falls on the bride’s father – but, rather, is a cost borne equally by the bride and groom. With this in mind, it is easy to get carried away planning for your wedding, so you need to keep the costs of your wedding constantly in mind. Budgeting for your wedding, therefore, becomes paramount. The following are 5 budget tips for a successful wedding day:
1. The rings
You’ll want your wedding rings to be reflective of the love you have for each other. Here, you may decide to have the traditional simple band wedding ring, or you may decide on something more fashionable – such as a Celtic wedding ring. In any event, obviously the more you budget for the wedding rings the more glamorous they can be. This is not to say, however, that you cannot find very suitable wedding bands for a reasonable price – you can!
2. The wedding dress and bride’s maids’ dresses
The wedding dress is going to be one of the biggest decisions of your wedding party. You can decide to either purchase the wedding dress and bride’s maids’ dresses, or you could decide to hire them. The choice you make here will have a significant impact on the overall cost of your wedding day. In the event that you decide to purchase the wedding dress and bride’s maids’ dresses, look to budget for a lot more than would be the case of you hire the dresses.
3. The wedding venue
Likely to be one of your more expensive outlays on an expensive day, you’ll most probably find one of the most expensive costs of your wedding venue is the cost of the flowers! In nay event, if you have a civil ceremony, at a hotel, this will end up costing you as much, if not more, than if you have the wedding at a place of worship.
4. The wedding reception
Depending on the number of people you invite to your wedding, the wedding reception will be your biggest outlay. Included in the cost of your wedding reception, you need to consider the costs of:
• a photographer;
• a band/music;
• drinks;
• food;
• gifts for the best man, bride’s maids, parents; and
• flowers for the Mums.
Wherever you decide to hold your wedding reception, make sure that you clearly state what it is you expect from the reception function company prior to the day of the wedding reception. In particular, you should check the following with your cater:
- what type of meal you want -buffet or service/sit-down;
- the dining set style;
- table designs, including linen;
- room decorations – and who is responsible for arranging this;
- how many to cater for – and what happens if more or less people attended;
- are drinks included in the cost of catering the party – if not, how will the bar be arranged.
5. The Honeymoon
Not really a cost of the wedding as such, it is important that you keep in mind the cost of your honeymoon. Depending on where you decide to go, a honeymoon can be either inexpensive or very expensive. Also, it is always suggested that newly weds do not travel to their honeymoon destination on their wedding day, because they’ll be too tired to consider a long journey. It is, therefore, recommended that you book a nice local hotel for your wedding night. If you think you might want to do this, make sure you include this in your wedding budget.
As you can see then, your wedding day is not going to be cheap. But, with any luck, it’ll be the most memorable day of your life – until you have children that is!
